You will need to compare with the various payment processors that are available. The popular ones would be PayPal, Google Checkout, Authorize.net, 2CheckOut, etc. If you’re planning to sell your products globally, you may want to choose a payment processor that is recognizable internationally. Websites cited below. Hope this helps.

Paypal is still the best and the most secure way to pay. I use it in all my transactions.

The first thing you’ll want to figure out all the tools you’re going to need. Will you need recurring billing? How about credit card data storage? Do you need to be able to accept payments internationally? And another question, many merchants don’t even know they need to ask is, "How will I manage my PCI compliance responsibilities?" (See here for more information on PCI compliance: http://www.braintreepayments.com/assets/309/pci-whitepaper.pdf) Once you’ve figured out the tools that you’ll need in place, you can then research payment gateways to see which one fits you best. Some things to consider are the level of ease of integration, the reputation of the company you’re researching and the type of support you’ll receive if things go badly. Disclaimer: I work for Braintree.
