While attending college I struggled to find a legitimate way to make money in the little time I had between classes and social events. Over the years I came across some great college jobs online that you can do in your spare time to make a nice side income. All of these college jobs are online, so there is never a need to leave your dorm or apartment! I was making more money with these online jobs than most of my friends who worked in retail.

1. One of the first college jobs online that I came across involved taking surveys for cash. It is important to note that places like this really do exist, however the Internet is absolutely swarming with paid survey scams as well. If you see those advertisements that say you can make hundreds of dollars day just by giving your opinion, do NOT believe them. These places are just straight up scams and they lie to your face because they want to take what little money you may have.

The most common scams that I see today are the web sites that want you to pay them upwards of $50 for access to a “special” list of survey sites. Never pay this kind of money for access to a survey list. Even if you pay the money, chances are more than half of the survey websites they list are scams themselves! Over the years I made it my goal to thoroughly research and seek out each legitimate paid survey company. I can now say that I am working with 263 ACTIVE survey companies. Talk about a college dream job.

2. The second opportunity that I believe to be one of the best college jobs online is completing free offers for money. You may have seen all those banners advertising things like: “Get A FREE IPOD!” Most of these companies are legitimate, but they are not upfront about the true cost of receiving the item. What they should mention is: “Just refer 18 million of your friends AND PAY $96 to complete random shady offers!”

I found three solid companies that will pay you to complete 100% free offers. These free offers usually take me about five minutes to complete, and they pay between $1.00-$6.00. You can easily make $10 an hour just by clicking through some pages. It is definitely possible, just please be wary of all the scam sites that are popping up everyday.

3. The third, and possibly the best of all the college jobs online, is writing for content companies. I was a communications major, so I loved writing anyways. I wouldn’t go as far to say that I loved writing when I had dumb assignments, but I still considered myself to be a decent writer. Chances are that if you are in college, you are probably a decent writer as well.

Over the years I worked with about twenty reputable online content companies. These companies paid me good money to write simple informative articles for them. I’d usually write a few 300-word articles every other day and I’d have some nice spending money for the weekend. Needless to say, I had my beer money.

All of these college jobs are legitimate, and you can get paid nearly everyday by most of them. It just depends on the amount of effort that you put into them and your ability to sift through all of the Internet scams out there. Don’t waste your time with a website that claims you can make $500 a day. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
